Hello and welcome. This is the second interpretation of Lola Ridge’s Scandal that I indulged in; and it begins right away.
Another possible interpretation of Scandal is to look at it from the point of view of how much in tune the narrator is with all things human and humanity.
Perhaps the narrator is insensitive to the feelings and emotions of the person telling him or her about what has transpired with people—people who may have been close friends or family to the narrator.
The narrator, here the poet, seems more bothered about things that lie beyond the boundaries of what he or she can do. After all, the position of the Moon, the winds in the canyon, and Neptune and its moons aren't things that the narrator can influence at all. They'll take their own course in the scheme of things and all the narrator can do is watch it all unfold.
Contrast this with what the narrator has just heard—a recount of suffering and sorrow probably in a house close to where he or she is. Now, the least the narrator can do—or has been called upon to do—is, say, offer some sympathy or a patient ear perhaps. Instead, the narrator chooses to belittle the gravity of what he or she has heard by mentioning that there are other things to bother about—other far more important things in the grand design of the universe that ironically the narrator can quite frankly do nothing much about.
Well, that was all about the second interpretation that put together. There is a third and final take, which is available right away in Episode 23; and as I mentioned in Episode 21, the third and the final interpretation of Lola Ridge’s Scandal does take into account a little bit of her life and works. So you’ll find that reflected in the interpretation as well. Do take a look; it’s in Episode 23 that’s streaming right away. I’ll see you there. Buh-bye!
